Hiking Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon National Park includes some of the most spectacular hiking trails located anywhere on the entire planet. Every view is impressive, making this national park one that is extremely popular for both beginning and expert hikers. From simple paths that are easy to navigate and take an hour or two to complete, to more challenging paths that require all day trekking, to energetic trails that take days to hike, there’s a hiking option for everyone.

Hiking Bryce Canyon

The following is a list of some of the more popular Bryce Canyon hikes outdoor adventure lovers are choosing to take these days.

Easy to Moderate Hikes

  • Mossy Cave Trail – just under a tenth of mile, this hike has an altitude climb of 300 feet and goes through the East Fork if the Sevier River through the Paunsaugunt Plateau.
  • Scenic Rim Trail – this trail is about 5 ½ miles long and has an altitude climb of a little more than 1750 feet. It is the only trail in the park that is paved and is located around the rim of the main amphitheater.
  • Bristlecone Loop – this trail is located in the southernmost part of the park, is about 1 mile in distance and has an altitude climb of 195 feet. As the name implies, this particular hiking trail will take hikers through a forest of Bristlecone pine trees.
  • Top Hat – this trail leads to certain points of the park where visitors can enjoy its famous Top Hat rock formations, and for that reason is one of the more popular trails taken.
  • Tower Bridge – this path got its name because it passes a formation of rocks that are similar in appearance to the old English bridge. The formation is mesmerizing and a top reason why so many visitors take this path, as they want to take souvenir pictures.

Strenuous Hikes

  • Fairyland Loop Trail – this hiking trail is a little more than 8 miles roundtrip, with an altitude client of about 900 feet. The trail starts at a Fairyland Point, continues to Boat Mesa, Tower Bridge, China Wall and then loops back to the initial starting point.
  • Peekaboo Loop Trail – this equestrian trail is one of the more popular hiking trails in the canyon. The 5 ½ mile roundtrip trail starts off at Bryce Point, passes The Alligator, The Cathedral and offers some of the greatest views of the Wall of Windows. The trail has an altitude climb of 1000 feet.
